8th international Workshop on Sensor-Based Activity Recognition and Artifical Intelligence

In the past years, the increasing acceptance of wearable sensors has opened new possibilities of applications aiming to better understand the human body, including (but not limited to) human activity recognition, emotion and stress recognition, pain recognition, sleep analysis, nutrition medicine. Due to their ability to collect large amounts of data in unobtrusive ways, wearable devices have attracted the interest of various actors in both the academic and industrial fields, and given them an incentive to develop solutions for the continuous monitoring of the human state in a daily life, workplace or medical context. For these reasons, wearable computing has become an active field of research, with on-going investigations to propose user-friendly and unobtrusive systems that provide high performing services.

The iWOAR is a conference-like workshop organized by the Technische Hochschule Lübeck, Universität zu Lübeck and Fraunhofer IMTE. It offers scientists, interested parties, and users in the area of human activity recognition - and on a more general level wearable computing - the possibility of an exchange of experiences, a presentation of best-practice examples, as well as technical and scientific results. The workshop focuses on technologies and methods for human activity recognition using inertial sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, etc.), and other applications of wearable computing related to the understanding of the human body. Thereby, the following topics and fields of application will be addressed:

  • Human Activity Recognition
  • Human Centred Artificial Intelligence
  • Human Centred Machine Learning
  • Human Data Imputation / Augmentation / Representation / Classification
  • Human Behaviour Intention Recognition
  • Quantified Self
  • Affective Computing
  • Context Awareness
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Intelligent User Interfaces
  • Pervasive & Wearable Computing
  • Cyber Physical & Human Systems
  • Assistive Technologies
  • Ambient Assisted Living
  • Active & Healthy Ageing
  • Personalised Diagnostics and Therapy
  • Telemedicine and Biotechnology
  • Occupational Safety, Healthcare and Wellness
  • Industry 4.0
  • Smart Cities & Urban Environments

We invite for academic research papers and for best-practice industrial research approaches. Accepted submissions will be published in the iWOAR 2023 Proceedings online in the ACM Digital Library.
